But it would be a good way to learn about vehicles and look for the kind of parts that you would like your own vehicle to bear.

It would be the Cannonball World Events who would be bringing such a grand auto activity to the continent. Cannonball World Events is a company which is based in London. It is run by Tim “Maverick” Porter, the managing director for the Cannonball Run World Events, and is also one of the automobile world’s popular icons for he is known as a car aficionado and a really grand driver. Porter emphasizes, “Safety is paramount to this event and in the previous six years and eight major events held in Europe we have never had a serious accident and we believe this is due to the way we police our own event with very strict rules. Drivers must complete the course with an average speed at or below the national speed limit rather than racing to be the first car to arrive.” As per the event, he even further adds, “This event is based on the success of our Cannonball Run Europe events which embody the spirit of the original US Cannonball Run event and the 1981 movie.”

Spoilers

Spoiler refers to a long narrow plate along the upper surface of an airplane wing that may be raised for reducing lift and increasing drag. In automobile parlance, the spoiler is an air deflector fixed on the vehicle to reduce its tendency to lift off the road at high speeds. A spoiler transforms even an old, dull looking vehicle into a handsome one and stimulates the vehicle’s resale price. This, coupled with its aerodynamic quality, persuades many customers to go in for this trendy, sporty accessory.

Spoilers were initially installed only on racing cars and some superior sports cars, mainly due to their special utility value in such vehicles, including reducing its lift and drag and increasing the downforce. These would ensure increase in traction, permitting the car to brake, turn, and accelerate properly and more forcefully.

These days, a variety of street vehicles are equipped with spoilers. Auto spoilers are available as car spoilers (front and rear spoilers), tailgate spoilers, truck cap spoilers, and tonneau cover spoilers. Spoilers are available for minivans and vans and rear window spoilers are common for SUVs.

Spoilers usually come with sealing gaskets that are made of a sponge-like material and mounting bolts. It is quite difficult to find an alternative aftermarket spoiler with holes to match. If a car owner is substituting his factory spoiler with a factory replica, companies often advise him/her to get another spoiler from the factory.

Spoilers are quite easy to install and available at reasonable prices. There should be no compromise in quality. Installing spoilers is a process that needs specialized tools and devices. The installer should have a good understanding of how to attach the spoiler to the car. Having good spoilers on a vehicle indicates that there is less resistance, which would result in a higher speed.

Mobile Car Wash Dealership Washing

If you run a mobile car wash you should have a division, which is dedicated strictly to servicing dealerships in the automotive industry. This division should have services new and used car dealerships, Internet auto sales companies, auto auctions, manufacturers, on-site auto shows, as well as dealerships for RVs, boats, trucks, motorcycles and new farm equipment.

Your Dealership Division should wash for some of the biggest and best in the industry; names like: ADT, Bessmer, AMCI, Lithia, Internet Car Sales, Car Max, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Harley Davidson, Auto Nation, Bayliner, Freightliner, International, John Deere, New Holland, CAT, GM, Selectruck, Peterbilt, and more.

How is this possible?

Our company uses Isuzu trucks. These trucks have the same turning radius as the Ford Escort Wagon, a 13,500 GVW, and can carry up to 1,000 gallons of water. A crew of 10 can work off one truck with a maximum capacity of 1,000 feet of pressure hose.

By using non-marring hose you will not scratch the surfaces of cars or special dealership flooring. Your crews can also work at night by installing special million candle watt lights. Another custom feature you can incorporate is a dual 360

Car Accident Statistics

Car accident statistics indicate that at least four people involved in car accidents die every hour. These accidents could be due to the fault of the driver, the other driver, or due to a faulty vehicle. The important thing to consider is the number of deaths occurring every day, excluding the people involved in car accidents and sustaining severe personal injuries.

The main causes for car accidents are reckless and negligent driving and alcohol. Teenagers, according to the statistics, cause most car accidents Inexperience coupled with irresponsible behavior and a lack of respect for the safety precautions are the main causes for such a high number of teenage car accidents.

Another reason is the inattentiveness of the driver. Many people talk while driving, which might prove to be fatal because it distracts the driver from the road. Even though hands free mobile phones are the latest craze, the driver would be unable to concentrate on the road while on the phone. The best option would be to park and then take the call, or not take the call at all while driving. These rules have already been implemented in a number of states.

Inattentiveness can also be caused due to alcohol, drugs, or the driver being distracted by music in the car. This might prove to be perilous to other drivers on the road and might result in either distracting them with reckless driving or causing side or rear end collisions due to inattentiveness. Such negligence can even cause pileups in highways and must be avoided at all costs.

Car accidents can be very traumatic, sometimes affecting the person for the rest of their life. Other than the physical injuries that may result due to the accident, mental pressure might also result. A few precautions can eliminate the prospect of accidents on the roads and provide a safety net. It is advised to follow the safety road rules and not drive while on the phone or while on drugs or alcohol.

The LS6 Chevelle a History

The Chevelle is one of Chevrolet’s most famous muscle cars of all times, it made a respectable name for it’s self in the muscle car world, during it’s run as a muscle car it could hold it’s own with the best of them, there were a lot of different versions of the Chevelle and they were one of the best examples of a muscle car out there.

They were heavily optioned, big and powerful cars, my personal favorite years for the Chevelle were 1967 and 1970, these cars made a real statement, they were long and wide, and had the true muscle car look and feel about them, the Chevelle was a true muscle car icon from the late 1960’s & early 1970’s.

The LS6 454

The biggest performance option for 1970 was the “LS6 454″; it produced 450 HP @ 5600 RPM and built 500 lb-ft of torque @ 3600 RPM. It has high compression pistons and rectangle port cylinder heads, along with a solid lifter camshaft. Few other muscle cars could rival the power of the LS6.

By 1970 style was every bit as important as performance, and the SS Chevelles were available with twin racing stripes, that want over the hood and deck lid.

The Muncie M22 Rock Crusher 4 speed transmission

With 500 ft-lb of torque, only two transmissions were able to handle the LS6 engine. The Muncie M22 rock crusher, which supposedly got its name from having diamonds dropped in to the gearbox, and it, crushed the rocks before it chewed the gears out of the transmission. The second transmission that was tough enough to handle the LS6 was the turbohydromatic 400 automatic transmission.

With the SS package came an upgraded suspension system known as the F41 suspension, it basically had stiffer springs to handle the extra weight of the big block engine that was stuffed in to this wicked ride, a full length 2.5 inch dual exhaust also came standard on the SS models.

The cowl induction hood

The cowl induction hood was one the most distinctive features on the SS Chevelles, a slightly raised portion of the hood, with the opening for the scoop facing the driver of the car, it would draw air from the bottom of the windshield area, where the air has a natural swirling effect.

Engine Specifications

  • Cast Iron Engine Block
  • Cast Iron Cylinder Heads
  • Two Valves Per Cylinder
  • 4.25 inch bore with a 4 inch stroke
  • 454 CID
  • 11.25:1 Compression Ratio

Well that’s more or less the story of the 1970 Chevelle LS6, during that time these cars were feared by their opponents, and loathed by the other motor companies, with all of them trying to out do each other in the muscle car wars, not to many of them could lay this car to rest, it was one tough hombre.

I’ve been in the automotive business for about 20 or 25 years, I have worked in all facets of the industry, from parts to restoration, all different makes and models, I just want to keep people interested in the old cars because it’s where my heart is.

Car Accident Lawsuits

A car accident lawsuit is filed by the injured party or by relatives or friends on behalf of the injured party. Since a car accident occurs when the car is faulty or due to another driver’s negligence, it makes sense to file a case either against the manufacturer or the driver who caused the accident due to reckless driving. Some lawsuits have also been filed against the government for negligence that could have resulted in bad road conditions that might have caused an accident like a roll over or skid.

Most car accidents happen on busy roadways such as expressways, freeways, or highways with high speed limits. In such instances, if even just one driver neglects to follow proper driving rules or guidelines, it might result in a pileup resulting in excessive property damage and personal injuries. Teenagers who do not follow basic safety rules such as wearing a seat belt and passing with proper signals cause many car accidents. People who drink alcohol or take drugs are another major cause of car accidents are usually held liable if involved in an accident.

A properly filed lawsuit can help the injured party get compensation for their traumatic experience. In the cases mentioned above, the guilty party must pay for the medical bills and the property damage caused by the accident. Also, costs for any hospitalization to be done must be covered by the guilty party. Most common personal injuries caused during an accident are the knee injuries, spinal cord injuries, and brain injury due to shock. In such serious cases, a car accident lawsuit could be very helpful in obtaining compensation for all these losses as well as the money that the person might lose as wages while being laid up at the hospital.

Bacteria to Power Up the Carwash

Alternative energy is bolder rage and it makes sense to take this technology and apply it to his many possible industries as possible. Alternative energy can be many things; it can be solar power, hydroelectric, wind power or believe that are not even bacteria power. Bacteria power you say? Well, did you know that most carwashes recycle their water? In fact many carwashes use bacteria to clean the wastewater. Many people use bacteria in their septic tanks and because of this the septic tanks never fill up. Pretty exciting isn’t it; the solid waste to his eaten by the bacteria and the water flows into leach lines with rock and gravel and enters into the groundwater where it is further cleaned naturally by the soil.

Now then, let’s talk about carwashes shall we? Many carwashes have closed loop systems and in these systems the water is cleaning and re-filtered and used again. The sludge or the heavy dirt along with the soaps and detergents use eaten by the bacteria. During the oxidation process of the bacteria eating the sludge it releases electrons. Which can be used as power the study, research project and white paper from Penn State University states;

“. . .insert a fuel cell with carbon anodes in oxygen free sludge. The bacteria adhere to the anodes, which harvest the electrons to produce a current that flows through a wire to a cathode.”

Could this possibly be enough to power up the entire carwash? Maybe not, however it would be enough to run the lights, signage and some public carwash processes, which were electric with hydraulic assist. Much of the power output would depend on the amount of bacteria, the size of the sludge tank and the rate at which the sludge in the tank was returned by washing future cars. Please consider this in 2006.

Hummer - An Introduction

The Hummer was first developed as military vehicle for the American military by AM General Corporation. The vehicle was than called an HMMWV or Humvee and was a very important part of the US military due to its cross country capabilities. AM General Corporation started the work of creating civil version of the humvee during the 80s. One of the main points in the development was to keep the qualities that made the car so good for the military in the civil version just adding extra comfort.

There was for a long time no dealers that sold this car that costed 50 000$ at the time and those who wanted to buy one had to go to the factory to do so. The first Hummer sold to a civilian was sold in 1991 to California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger which only helped to improve the cars macho image. The civilian model of the Hummer caught the attention of the world and the American consumers during the adventure tour were two Hummers drove from London to Beijing through the rough roads of Russia and the former soviet union.

General motors later started selling hummers and eventually ended up buying the brand name Hummer. The later models of Hummers like the H2 and H3 are developed by GM for civilian consumers and have never needed to live up to the standards that were needed for the first model in the military service. This does not mean that they are bad cars just that things like comfort have had a larger influence on the development. The latest model is in fact developed to be a suitable family car and to work well as a city car. The latest model also has more high tech features and more safety features designed for families.

Hummers have a high ground clearance, double of a standard SUV, to allow them to traverse rough terrain. This means that a hummer can go almost anywhere. They can go up and down steep hills and can easily climb a 16 inch vertical rock. Hummer cars also have a very high tolerance for water and can traverse relatively deep streams. Hummer also features a long row of different functions to allow the driver supreme control regardless of the terrain. An example on one such features is the Central Tire Inflation System which allows the driver to control the pressure in all 4 tires individually from the driver seat.

Hummers are today sold with a large number of accessories and can be customized according to the individual customers need. Examples on such customizations are bullet proof hummers and the today relatively well know hummer.

Read about the new Hummer models like the HUMMER 3 - H3 and the coming model HUMMER 4 - H4 that is currently under development.

Car Wash Fundraiser Hours of Operation Recommendations

So, your group has decided to set up a car wash fundraiser right? Well you have picked out a date, but what hours will you run your fundraiser? Here are some thoughts and ideas, which will help you determine the best hours of operation.

We recommend that you keep the hours of the fundraiser to a minimum. Pick a Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. If you have twenty or more volunteers who will be washing cars, split them into a morning shift and an afternoon shift, ten in each shift. It might be better to have twelve people in the morning and eight in the afternoon. Usually mornings have higher traffic count because people are on their way to somewhere. They will usually be on their way back after 3:00 pm. Don’t start your car wash fundraiser before 8:00 am unless you expect your temperature that day to be over 105
